Album Review: The Pretty Reckless | Going To Hell

Release Date: March 18, 2014

If you’re easily offended, I don’t recommend this album for you, but if you like something edgy and different from the norm, this album is for you. Going to Hell is The Pretty Reckless anticipated second album.

So let’s get into this album that definitely starts off with the shock factor in the first song. “Follow Me Down” is a straight up sex song, to put it bluntly. Then we have “Going to Hell” which has the lyrics, “Getting heavy with the devil, you can hear the wedding bells.” The album has less controversial songs as well. The song “Heaven Knows” has a school bell intro and a sick beat, it’s catchy, definitely one that will be stuck in your head for days. “House on a Hill” has beautiful vocals and the song is quite nice overall. The song “Blame Me” seems to be about a relationship. She’s blaming the faults of the relationship on herself or someone she loves is blaming her for all their life problems. The song “Why’d You Bring a Shotgun to the Party?” has a sick intro, beat, and lyrics.

This album is fun and edgy. All twelve songs on this album stick to their grunge sound. The band is talented and if you want to try listening to something different, give this album a chance!
